Local Networks

  • When you use your smartphone abroad through the 4G or 4G connection, users will often incur high data roaming charges. This can be an unwanted present when you return home from the competition!
  • To avoid incurring high data roaming charges, always use Wi-Fi networks when they are available. There will be Wi-Fi networks available to players at hotels and possibly in the stadium. They are also often available at some restaurants, cafes and other public locations. Ask for a list of Wi-Fi networks and the associated network keys you can use for free.
  • You can also invest in a dongle or router and bring it with you.
  • You can also buy a local sim card which will allow you to have internet access via a pay as you go system (not in every country though).
